There are three cards in a box. One is completely black, one is completely white, and one is white on one side and black on the other side. You draw out one card without looking at it, and place it on a table. You look at the card and see that one side of the card is black. What are the odds that the other side of the card is black, and why?

Re: Answer this Riddle on Fri Mar 04, 2011 6:41 am
Draw the numbers 1 and 2 on the faces of the black card.
Draw the numbers 3 and 4 on the faces of the white card.
Draw the numbers 5 and 6 on the faces of the mixed card - say 5 is on the black face, and 6 is on the white face.
The numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 have equal likelihood of being visible.
Nothing favors one of these numbers over any of the others.
If 1, 2 or 5, is visible, you see black.
If 1 or 2 is visible, the opposite side is black.
Draw the numbers 3 and 4 on the faces of the white card.
Draw the numbers 5 and 6 on the faces of the mixed card - say 5 is on the black face, and 6 is on the white face.

CONGRATULATIONS. YOU WIN ANOTHER RIDDLE
You have two toy cars. However, your racetrack is only wide enough for one car, meaning that they cannot be raced side by side. How do you determine which is faster without timing them?

I didn't google this answer, just venturing a guess:
- Spoiler:
- Place both cars on the track at the same time, one behind the other. if the car in front moves away from the other, it is faster. if the car in the back closes the gap, it is faster.

GOOD JOB. HERE'S ANOTHER PUZZLE
Dr. Edgar is a strange scientist. He is brilliant loves the number 11. After building his own equal-arm balance, he needs to buy a set of weights, and he wants to be able to measure the weight of any object between 1 and 121 pounds. However, he is also extremely cheap, and wants to buy the fewest amount of weights as possible. How many weights does he need, and what are their weights? Assume that everything is in whole numbers, and that there are no decimals.

I'm terrible at math puzzles. I found the answer to this one with a google search, but for the benefit of the other puzzle solvers (if there are any) I'll postpone posting the solution here, at least for a little while.

NEW RIDDLE
A waiter, a baseball player, a nurse, a writer, a golfer, a gardener and a banker are staying at a hotel. That night, one of the maids is stabbed to death. The hotel manager, knowing that one of the guests had to have murdered her, gathers all the guests in a room. He holds an origami pipe and paces the room pretending to be a detective. Suddenly, he throws objects at all the guests, who all catch the objects with their right hand. The hotel manager had been trying to find a left-handed person, since the killer who stabbed the maid was a lefty according to the knife wounds. He is about to give up, when a mysterious old man emerges from the shadows.
“My name is Obi-Wan. I know who the murderer is,” he says
Who is it, and how did he know?
ALSO, TO MEASURE TWO POUNDS YOU PUT ONE POUND ON ONE SIDE AND THREE POUNDS ON THE OTHER SIDE. IF THE OBJECT BEING MEASURED IS 2 POUNDS THEN IT WILL BALANCE THE SCALE IF IT IS ADDED TO THE ONE POUND. SILLY HUMAN.

You mean it wasn't the answer you wanted. Sometimes things don't work that way.
Alternatively, I could suggest that Obi-Wan is the killer, and he knows because he did it.
The answer I think you're looking for, though, is the baseball player. Left-handed baseball players catch with their right hands, and throw with their left.
Your answer, please.

It is the baseball player, you catch with the hand you do not throw with, so he is left handed.

I already told all of you. The game is an alternate reality experience like none other.
